An update from Wendy Gray, Director of Countryways CIC
As we enjoy the sounds, sights and smells of spring, we are seeing lots of people are making use of the recently opened cycle path.  Our goats have been happily grazing on the driveway banks, helping us keep that area tidy.  There’s a little sign near the path about our Countryways goats and also shares the details of our Mobility in March campaign – a sponsored fundraising activity to raise funds for adapted trikes that our care farm visitors can make use of.  The Chilterns Conservation Board has kindly agreed to fund a Revom T4 electric trike, which is brilliant!  Care Farm leaders Emily M and Duncan have been carefully recording the miles/ kms walked around the farm with our Farm Helpers, to reach and exceed our target…but more sponsors would be great. If you are able to support our fundraiser please let us know or donate here.
The fortnightly Countrymen’s Club met on Monday for its last session before Easter and successfully refurbished a lovely manger-planter ready for planting, followed by an enjoyable home baked ginger and treacle cake.
Our Kindred Countryside Club meets for the last of this first block of 4 sessions on Thursday, then resumes for the next block with a new group after Easter, thanks to Heart of Bucks for providing some support towards this intergenerational initiative. Sign up to one of our other blocks by emailing office.rfcountryways@gmail.com.
We have welcomed some excellent new volunteers and are introducing them to our care farm operations. We are excited to see how they are able to support our care farm delivery in the coming months. If anyone else is interested in volunteering, please get in touch!
Farmer David has many lovely lambs and calves which are enjoying the spring grass and are a delight for all to see. Thank you to all involved with our care farm, and especially the young people and adults who participate in care farming sessions. We are so proud of you all.
