It’s National Volunteering Week this week, so it’s only fitting that we publicly thank our amazing volunteers.

From supporting Farm Helpers learn and grow working on practical jobs on the farm, to making refreshments; from feeding the goats to mucking out animals; from helping with admin to fundraising and from watering the poly tunnel to managing the car parking at Open Farm Sunday.

So many people help us in so many ways, and we couldn’t do it without you all. A big thank you from Wendy, Duncan and all the animals at Countryways CIC

JOIN US!

We have a number of new opportunities to join our volunteering team. If you have something different to offer, we would also love to hear from you!

Some of the volunteer opportunities include:
  • Poly tunnel watering
  • Animal feeding, water top ups, cleaning out animal pens
  • Bookkeeping
  • Refreshment helper (serving, and making) for events or group visits
  • Liaising with schools and encourage outdoor learning linked to the curriculum
  • Adult sewing activity planner – We need someone with an interest in sewing to generate some simple, meaningful sewing projects for our young people to build their skills.
  • Admin and website maintenance
  • Food preservation – We need help with reducing waste from our orchard and we’re planning a few more simple activities which young people could be involved in but need someone with jam/chutney/preservation enthusiasm and expertise they are willing to share. Requires existing skills and preferably a Hygeine certificate (although this can be arranged).  We also have a demonstration fruit mill, press and dehydrator, not to mention goat’s milk and honey!
  • Cleaning, sorting and tidying – help keeping our internal spaces clean and tidy
  • Helping at specific events, such as Open Farm Sunday

Please send a message to Amina at vols.rfcountryways@gmail.com to find out more about how you can help.

In the meantime,  if you’re free, come and visit us here on the farm at Open Farm Sunday on the 29th June.
